Build this now: Netflix for AI movies

This week’s idea takes the cake - we seriously think it has legs, and we’d love to see one of you build it. Imagine Netflix for AI-generated movies: niche, dynamic, and powered by the crowd.
The product we’re featuring this week? Lifetoon - an AI-powered platform that lets anyone turn ideas into episodic comics with recurring characters and evolving stories. It’s genuinely cool - we’re fans, and you should absolutely check it out.
On our end, engagement on X and Product Hunt is climbing steadily. We’ve been getting overwhelming support (shoutout to the PH fam 🙌), though reader conversion is still a work in progress. That said, we’ve got a banger of a feature this week and we’re gearing up for our own Product Hunt launch in the coming days. Super pumped.
Some seriously cool products lined up for future editions too - stay tuned!

If you have a friend who’s full of ideas and would enjoy this, we’d love for you to share it with them.
Let’s keep building the future together 🚀
Steal this Idea : Netflix for AI-Generated Movies 🎬
Netflix for AI generated fims, pretty self explanatory
🧠 Problem
This week, Google unveiled Veo 3, its latest AI video model capable of generating hyper-realistic videos from text prompts. The line between AI-generated and human-made content is blurring rapidly.
Yet, despite the surge in AI video tools like Runway, Pika Labs, and Sora, there's no centralized platform to discover, watch, and rate AI-generated films. Audiences are left sifting through fragmented content across various platforms.
The generative AI in movies market is projected to reach $3.86 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 26.8%. (EINPresswire.com)
The AI-generated show "Nothing, Forever," a parody of Seinfeld, garnered over 14,000 peak viewers on Twitch, demonstrating significant audience interest. (Wikipedia)
💡Solution
A dedicated streaming platform for AI-generated movies and series, curated by genre and ranked by community votes. Think of it as Netflix meets Reddit for AI-created content, offering a centralized hub for discovery and engagement.
⚙️ How It Works
Watch: Browse AI-generated content across genres like sci-fi, comedy, and drama.
Vote: Community-driven upvotes surface the best content.
Create: Future features could allow users to generate their own content using simple prompts.
Personalize: Tailored recommendations based on viewing history and preferences.
🎯 Target Users
Movie buffs : Film lovers who’ll shape the platform both as viewers and creators. If you can think of it, you can generate it.
Early adopters: Tech-savvy viewers interested in AI and new media.
Content creators: Individuals using AI tools seeking a platform to showcase their work.
Curators and reviewers: Users who enjoy discovering and sharing unique content.
Niche communities: Fans of specific genres looking for fresh, AI-generated content.
💸 Business Models
The platform runs on a subscription model, but early on, each AI-generated film or series is ticketed individually - giving creators the ability to build hype through trailers, teasers, and sneak peeks on social.
Viewers buy tickets, leave feedback, and become co-creators in real-time. Since AI allows for rapid iteration, creators can actually improve their films based on audience input - making every viewer a contributor, not just a consumer.

Lifetoon - Turn life's stories into legendary comics.

Generated by us using Lifetoon :”)
What does your product do? Who is it for?
Lifetoon is an AI storytelling platform that turns your stories into personalized comics, animations, or videos in seconds - no drawing skills needed. You simply describe your idea, choose a style, and Lifetoon instantly creates visuals you can edit, share, or print.
Lifetoon is built for:
Teachers who want lessons that grab students’ attention
Parents who want to keep special memories alive
Creators who want to visually express their imagination easily
Lifetoon empowers you to tell your story. Visually, personally, effortlessly
Check it out: lifetoon
Why it was built:
"For me, Lifetoon started with a deeply personal moment. I wanted to give my mom something meaningful, something that captured all the feelings I struggled to express in words. So, I turned our memories into a comic-style book. When she opened it, she cried. Happy tears.
Stories connect us more deeply when they're visual and personal. But not everyone can draw. Still, everyone deserves a way to share what's in their heart.
That's how Lifetoon began."
Now, Mara and her team of six are building Lifetoon with heart, curiosity, and (in her words) far too many Notion pages.
What they’ve learnt in the last 3 months
Everyone has advice - but no one knows your product like you do. Trust your gut and launch fast.
Don’t reinvent the wheel. Use frameworks or Webflow. Skip hand-coded sites unless it’s essential.
Product Hunt is a great launchpad - but plan ahead (at least a month).
Focus on distribution early. They reached 650 signups from 40+ countries and earned press without spending on ads. Paid ads aren’t worth it until you’re ready to scale.
Team matters more than anything. A diverse team lets you focus on your strengths.

✨ We’re LAUNCHING ON PRODUCT HUNT ✨
Joined substack.
Feels a bit saturated, but definitely less pretentious than X. We’ll keep posting and report back on how it goes.Linkedin
Strategy is the same for now. Reaching out to our current network. Surprisingly, like we mentioned up top, a PM i once saw speak in NYC (before i even became a PM myself) liked the idea. good direction, for sure.

X
Is giving us slightly more engagement. Getting the premium subscription definitely helped. our whole contention was that everyone sounds like a subject matter expert and the tweets feel churned out for engagement, not actual value. So we literally did that. We posted about that.
Our strategy is simple: add a notetaker to our daily meets, talk about ideas, problems, etc., and GPT generates tweets for us.

Ouch
The growing pains are getting real. definitely feels like we need some escape velocity. we’re thinking of everything, printing hundreds of pamphlets and sticking them around NYC, wearing t-shirts with QR codes, even showing up to a weekend pool party, not to chill but to get people to sign up to the newsletter.Product hunt
Feels like the right place to build a warm community, especially when you’re just starting out. people are surprisingly receptive and actually want to share their ideas, give feedback, and jam on stuff. it’s kind of the perfect energy for early builders.
